RigMechanix - Initial Requirements & Background

In short, RigMechanix is designed to replace the safety analysis of small-to-medium sized rigged structures, usually in the performing arts industry (eg, those constructed without the aid of a professional rigger/engineer) by using span tables or cards by those who are untrained in structural load/beam mechanics.

I've worked for years in the events industry and find span tables are, at best, a very loose estimation of loading a truss or beam safely. Often, large redundancy of the load limits of RSJs or mounting points & the strength of truss is relied upon to provide a safely mounted structure in almost any configuration; I do not believe it's unnecessary to analyse such structures for safety however, which is where RigMechanix is designed to be useful.... read more
