Hi!

I just downloaded and installed RHash v1.2.8 on my ubuntu system (v10 'lucid', 32bit) and tried to calculate the CRC32s of a few files. Unfortunately, all I got was this error message: "Value too large for defined data type".

The files I tried to calculate the CRC32 of were all 2GB and above in size. Strangely enough, it worked with a 130MB file.

I then had a friend of mine use RHash as well on his system (xubuntu, 64bit) and it worked perfectly fine with files even bigger than 4Gb. He suggested that maybe RHash only supports large files in 64-bit systems.

I would be very grateful if you could help me since RHash is the only checksum calculator I know of that can embed the CRC32 in the file name.

Kind regards,
Alex

It's unexpected bug. Thanks for reporting it! :)

Oh, I see. I didn't think of the possibility that it's a bug - I was totally convinced that it was problem at my end (seeing how it worked perfectly fine on my friend's system).

Please don't hesitate to ask me if you need any more information about my system.

Error occurs only on 32-bit linux/unix systems in RHash <= 1.2.8
and does not occur in the latest RHash 1.2.9.

Closing the bug as already fixed.
