#1 Tabs incorrectly show up as one space in the column number

For example, if you have a tab at the beginning of a
line, placing the cursor before the tab shows the
current column number as 1 (correct). If you hit the
right arrow to position the cursor after the tab, the
column number shows up as 2 (should be 9 if the tab
width is 8).
