I'm definitely willing to do the work... I've started on it already. I'm hoping to get the first cut of it later this week, time permitting. The Spring guys are working on Spring 3.0 which will include a REST implementation on top of their existing annotation infrastructure. The Spring community is eagerly waiting Spring 3.0, but the SpringSource guys keep on moving back their ETA.
