(Sorry for the top-post.)

In the version of rest2web in subversion I have defined a very basic 
macro - lt.

This means you can do :

    *{lt}% autor %>*

I can't remember whether this is in the latest release or not.

If not, simply add the following to your macros file

    lt = '<'

(Macros are evaluated before the templating engine does its work.)

Let me know if this works - I think it should.

Oops - I've just remembered, there is a much better solution.

    *<* autor *>*

The <* ... *> and <$ ... $> templating is done *before* the rest2web is 
processed. That means that the result will be as if you had written the 
following in your source document :

    *Marcelo Huerta San Martín*
