Above changes (plus some minor doc updates) now applied to SVN,
repository was down again last night. As this was the first interruption
in the otherwise good (and free) service from Python-hosting, I'm
inclined to trust them for a while.

Still further doc changes to do, bug to fix with 'thispage', and
possible changes to 'include' before release will be done.
