Confused about image restore

I used Rescuezilla 2.6.1 to create an uncompressed image of a Windows 10 system disk. After creating the image, I ran "Verify Image", and this passed successfully.

Later, I tried to use Image Explorer to look at the files, and I couldn't find the image file. When Image Explorer prompts for the path to the image, I click Browse, which starts with "/mnt/backup", where I see the contents of the root of my Windows system disk (i.e. C:). There are no .img or sda1 files, so I can't mount an image. This is confusing to me.

I also tried using clonezilla-util to mount the image in Windows 11, but this failed with an "incorrect parameter" error.

How do I get my Windows partition or files restored? Thanks!

The user-interface may be a bit confusing for 'Image Explorer (beta)'. It's the same as the Image Verify flow where you select the drive that the image is stored on. Then it will list any images contained in any subfolder (1 level deep). (The Clonezilla image format isn't a single file, but may files.)

Rescuezilla will list the images. You may need to browse the the folder containing the image.

Then after clicking Next you can select a partition to mount, and view the files.

Copying files FROM the mounted image into your desired location is most effectively done with the Linux terminal in Rescuezilla v2.6.1's Image Explorer (beta) feature.

The next version of Rescuezilla will have a big upgrade to this (including ability to mount compressed files much better), but sadly with v2.6.1 once you mount the partition and view the files it's hasn't yet been streamlined to copy files out to your desired destination.

Oh, never mind. I was selecting the wrong disk partition!! I found the Clonezilla image files and they mounted correctly.

    Thanks for the quick response!
