Back to life

After a long time without any news to this project, I decided to make it alive again. This project was born from a need to have a ticketing system small, fast and simple enough to help a small support department. Originally, the released code is full of security holes, definition problems and a lot of other issues.

Since I'm back to PHP development, I decided to make this project alive again, since I intend to use it for my own purposes. Code license will still the same and code will be available for whom wants to read, modify and do whatever with it.

Installation tool under development

An easy-to-user installation tool is now under development. This installation tool will create all initial set of database structure and configuration for the request control. It is a PHP script that will run on the server side. The idea of this installation tool came from the postnuke installer, that is really simple and works really fine.

Version 1.0.5 released

After all the mySql port is finally available. However, the security holes remain. This version is stable but still need a lot of work. The next step is to rewrite the user authentication methods and the functions that build the main screen. Those are the weaker parts of the software.

Latest news

This project has been very quite for while. Actually, on going work is being done in the background. Request Control is being completely remodeled by this time. The poor existent documentation will be replaced by a complete system documentation that is being under work right now.
The idea is to think on the business rules again an, effectively, write a code that is a model of some reality. The current version of Request Control has a lot of security holes and lots of misuse of PHP language. Actually, the production version was kind of written as fast as possible, without any worry about puting all ideas first in a paper and then write the code.
So, the current maintenance activity is stopped and the new version is under project right now.

Sources available

At last all the sources are available in the CVS repository. The source available is the stable production version of the software. Several bugs do exist, mainly regarding some security holes. All of them will be fixed during the time and, also, new features will come up.
