    perhaps: http://www.phpspellcheck.com/

or does the editor support it directly? http://ckeditor.com/end-user-features
As it uses a web based service for spell-checking, It should be possible (a) to disable it in the admin, (b) make sure that the system works even, when that connection is offline

Spell checker is added in the rich text editor. As the old version (FCKeditor) wasn't supporting it, we needed to replace it with the new version - CKEditor(actually this was a must to do, as the old version wasn't supported in Chrome for ex.)
All recent settings and modifications to the rich text editor are redone in the new one. Spell checker supports different languages.
Provided spell checker uses exactly www.phpspellcheck.com, if the server is offline it won't work, but won't disturbs CKeditor in any way.
