I'm not sure what kind of menu features are being
planned for the first release of the rewritten Renegade
software... however, I love the old ANSI/ASCII menu's
and screens... but near the end of the BBS era I was
really getting into RIP graphics because I could put my
own images into the menu's, create my own menu items
and so forth...
I know that Macromedia Flash supports Java, I was
wondering if perhaps the new Renegade could support
Flash/Shockwave, this would not only allow a Sysop to
completely tailor the look and feel of his BBS, but the
menu's are small, the compression is really nice, the
Sysops can add music and sounds to their menu's if they
so choose, and if a Sysop is so inclined they can offer
numerous Shockwave/Flash games on their site. Not
including possible TCP/IP and IPX protocol support for
multi-node gaming.

As an additional note, Flash/Shockwave support would allow
those who are inept in coding (me and many others) the
ability to easily create countless things for their BBS without
having to know how to code.
