remerge 2.0.0 released!

'Better late than never' was an oft-quoted idiom over the past week as I've been working to get remerge 2.0 out the door. Although it was just less than a month ago that I promised that remerge 2.0 would be released in a week, I don't feel bad about its rather belated release, because I know that this release is late because I wanted to make it a very good release of remerge.

Without further ado, let me present to you: remerge 2.0.... read more

Announcing remerge 1.2.0!

remerge 1.2.0 has just been released!

remerge now uses CSS for the formatting of its pages, minimizing the amount of data transfer needed between remerge and the browser, but also allowing for different themes in remerge.

Themes are included for Gentoo (the old purple theme), SuSE, and Fedora/Red Hat.

A number of huge changes have been made to the underlying structure of remerge, allowing multiple pages to be loading at once (a big no-no before!) and making remerge much more stable and reliable, especially during syncronization.

remerge 1.0.2 released!

remerge 1.0.2 was released today!

This version of remerge adds one major feature, along with a few small bug fixes and enhancements: the ability to interface not only with Portage, like always, but also with Red Carpet, a mainly RPM-based package manager that works on many of the popular RPM-based Linux distributions, from Fedora to Mandrake to SuSE - even the Debian folk can join in on the fun of remerge (though not using their native apt)! Along with this comes a new configure script, a much more complex makefile, and four new source files to handle the new package manager.

remerge v1.0.0 released!

After two months of development, the remerge team has released v1.0.0 of their Portage frontend.

remerge now has blocker checking, which refers the user to a more experienced Gentoo user to be fixed.

remerge has also been brought up-to-date with the new categories that the Portage team has created for Antivirus programs, Email spam filters, and more.

The install/uninstall/upgrade page has gained a new feature also : links to the individual page of each package being affected by the action.
