MySQL needs to be upgraded to MySQLi. This is very important. I have tested on several free hosting sites and many are already using php5.6 as a standard along with MariaDB.
I thing updating the MySQL is the first important thing we nee to do.
Then we go to fixing php...
then upgrading to AdoDB 5.20.6 or something should work.
