Hmm... this is essentially a standard fixed cost system
except you divide by GR rather than subtract it. I
suspect you're going to get a lot of point hording in
this system -- the cost of taking something *will
appear* very costly and *will appear* to remain with a
person in perpetuity -- which means people will tend to
not take upgrades that can help the raid. I know if
people just bid on every upgrade, it will work like you
envision (like most systems would in ideal situations),
but people usually don't behave in that way. They'll
sacrifice valid upgrades and the good of the raid to
guarantee the likelihood of getting something they
really want. I would worry that this system would make
it more likely.
I hope I'm wrong. I'd love to hear reports from people
who use this.
P.S. Hmm. This is just off the top of my head, but have
you thought of making it more zero sum. Perhaps divide
DKP by (GearReceived - GearNotReceived) rather than
just GR to get your priority number? Of course, GNR for
an item would be the dkp cost of the item divided by
the total number of people in the raid - 1. This would
allow people to know that the denominator of their
"priority" can increase as well as decrease over time.
