What would be possible is to write the output as close as to the REG format as possible, e.g. binary data and multiple lines. This would be an option a user could set.
Note you would still have to edited the output to become a real REG file, but at least some work saved.

A "real world example" for this would be to track what changes were made by just-installed software.
Surely I know that the *.reg format has it's limits (especially with "before-after" comparison).
