In the documentation for the DATATYPE bif, for the 'W' (whole) option:
... while 13E+1 is not a whole number...
All version of REGINA (and other REXXes) return 1
(indicating that it IS a whole number).
I don't agree with the statment that "... it must be interpreted as 130 plus/minus 5."
Also, nowhere is a NUMBER defined (let alone, what is a valid REXX number).
The statement: A string is a valid REXX number if DATATYPE returns NUM
isn't a concisei definition. It is what it is. It'll get fixed when it gets fixed.
It ain't over until it's over. A number is any valid REXX number.
Also, several places in the Regina doc mention something to the effect:
... according to NUMERIC.
Probably, it should say: ... according to NUMERIC DIGITS.
