#87 rEFIt shows EFI partition as Legacy OS

Hello,

I just uninstalled Windows, restoring the hard drive to a single volume using Boot Camp Assistant. But now when I start my Mac, rEFIt shows two options: OS X & "Legacy OS," which is the EFI partition. Why is it doing this, and how can I stop it? I only want it to show OS X like it did before Windows.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Please run the "Partition Inspector" tool, and paste the report it generates into this tracker item. You can find the tool in the rEFIt disk image, and it should be installed in /Applications/Utilities as well if you used the package to install rEFIt.

Without this report we could only speculate what the layout and status of your partitions is.

    "MBR contents:
    Boot Code: Unknown, but bootable"

That is where the icon comes from. The Windows bootloader (or some part of it) is still in the MBR.

Hi, I have the exact same problem and results, so how can we remove the left over part of the windows bootloader?

    I have the same problem.

After partitioning in OSX and installing linux without synching the GPT-tables I could not install GRUB. After a reboot rEFIt showed a 'legacy OS' option. I cannot get that option to disappear: restoring the partitions to its original state and removing rEFIt have not worked. How can I fix that MBR?
