#17 Bypasses Open Firmware Password

When rEFIt is used, the open firmware password is irrelevant, at least on my Intel Mac. I am able to select alternative boot devices without being prompted for the password. If I use the Apple bootloader (Option key, C key, etc.) then I am prompted for the password.

    "Bypassing" the firmware password is part of the design of rEFIt. Also, the implementation of Apple's password protection being undocumented and private, there is no easy way to prompt for that password from within rEFIt.

    There is an open feature request to add configurable passwords to rEFIt:
