I have a brand new Mid 2015 15" MacBook Pro with discrete video. I am trying to load Kali Linux and I keep getting the "not found while loading legacy loader" error. I can get to the occasional Kali Linux boot menu but it locks up. The version of Kali Linux I am trying to load is 1.1.0a. I have tried to load Kali with a CDROM, USB 3.0 HD, Lightning Bolt HD, and a USB flash drive with no luck. I am currently running OSX 10.10.3 Any ideas?

Hmmmm...I guess I will just wait until next release.

    Two ideas:

    • If Kali supports it, try booting it in EFI mode rather than in legacy mode. You might need to create a new boot medium, since available tools create bootable USB drives in very different ways, and some may lack the EFI boot loader.
    • Try installing Kali on an external disk using another computer. You should then be able to move that disk over to your Mac and boot it with rEFInd installed from OS X. (You may need to re-install rEFInd with the external disk plugged in, or install an EFI filesystem driver, to get rEFInd to detect the Kali kernel.) You should then be able to clone the Kali installation to your internal disk, if that's where you want it.

I will give it a try this week. Thanks.
