Just want to report that this is basically how I finally got refind on boot with my Sony vaio laptop (SVS1511, InsydeH2O bios)
I tried changing {bootmgr} in bcd, replacing boot/bootx64.efi with refind's.. those didn't work. Moving and then replacing microsoft/boot/bootmgfw.efi with refind's was the trick..
