I'm trying to customize the icon that displays after you make an os selection. For example my initial os menu displays apple, linux, and windows. When I highlight windows and hit enter, it clears the screen and displays a generic windows icon in the center of the screen. I sent an email to Rod and he suggested trying to change the boot_win.png icon. However, changing or deleting this icon has no effect as the default icon remains the same (is it hard coded?). I'm wondering what refind looks for to correlate the menu entries with the boot icons? In other words, do you have to name a boot_xxx.png where xxx equals the name of the label under the menu entry on the previous screen? The other interesting thing is that the boot_linux.png doesn't display at all when booting linux.

Trying to see if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

    Update:

So for anyone who is interested, in order for refind to recognize the boot icon you designate, it has to correspond to the os label that refind assigns. For example, at the boot menu, when you choose which operating system to boot, refind displays a label under each entry. In my case, refind was identifying my windows installation as "Legacy OS." Therefore, I had to create a boot icon named boot_legacy.png and put that in the icons directory. Worked. Also, make sure you create the icon at 128x128 and use the fill color that matches the bg.png. This will ensure your icon looks transparent and not have that ugly gray box around it.

However, I still can't get this to work with my Linux installation in EFI mode. Rod indicated that the boot icon doesn't work in EFI mode. Has anyone found any work-arounds or solutions?
