I have had rEFInd installed on an 09 MBPro triple boot set-up, where rEFInd is installed the "old install.sh file way" on the root folder of the second partition. The first partition then is the default and that boots OSX 10.6 automatically; if I want the second partition or linux I use the option key to get to the rEFInd window.
Now, I have a used '12 MacPro and I'm trying to figure out how to repeat what I did before, two partitions for OSX--default for OSX on the first, and rEFInd on the second to get to OSX or LM 18--problem is the second partition has 10.11, which apparently is causing some problems.
First problem, I tried to boot the recovery disk and use the Terminal to run #"csrutil disable" (w/o the # & "") and it returned "csrutil --command not found" . . . . I then rebooted into admin account in 10.11 and tried to use "sudo csrutil disable" . . . and I got "csrutil: failed to modify system integrity configuration. This tool needs to be executed from the Recovery OS." . . . So, either way it doesn't seem to accept disabling SIP???
Then, the question I have is on your instruction to install to ESP rather than the "old" drag the "install.sh" into the Terminal . . . will that essentially move the rEFInd window to "default" or "first up" on any non option key reboot, and so the computer wouldn't have a "default" OSX partition at that point?
I haven't had a problem with using rEFInd to control the selection of LM or OSX on my MBPro, but, with seemingly more problems interfering with installation of rEFInd via 10.11 . . . I would like I think a clean default OSX partition as I had before. If I can somehow get SIP to accept "disabling" can I then set up rEFInd on the, what is it, a "HFS+" folder in the 10.11 root? Or, the now basic install to ESP doesn't interfere with OSX start-up disk function, which I now have set for first partition of 10.9??? I'd like to have a "native" partition that is free and clear . . . and then have the second partition for "the games" . . . possible?
Many thanks,
