Blank screen for 30s before refind menu appears

I just installed refind on my new MacBook air 13 inch 2015 model. I intend to use it to dual boot with linux, but currently I only have OSX El Capitan installed. While booting, a blank backlit screen appears for about 30s before the refind menu appears. Has anyone else experienced this issue and/or have any ideas on how to solve it? The delay is quite long and annoying!

May be it is because of the scanfor command. Limit the Options of scanfor and then try again.
