Hi,

Installed 0.8.2 on my MBA.

The rEFInd menu does not show up (just grey screen) until a key is pressed...then it appears.

Tried installing with 0.8.1 install.sh, same deal.

0.8.1 works OK

That was a bug in the initial release of 0.8.2. I quickly realized the error and updated the package within a few hours of the initial release. Try downloading it again and re-installing.
