I installed refind via the install.sh script, and the script exits successfully...but upon rebooting there is no rEFInd menu and the computer goes straight into OSX. I rebooted a few times, and then also tried the install.sh script, all to no avail.

Next I tried the hand install to /EFI/refind, and got the exact same issue.

I have a 14,2 model iMac running OS X 10.9.5. The partition format of OSX is Mac OS Extended Jounaled.

Any help is appreciated!

Try installing with the --esp option to install.sh.
