Installing rEFInd for general use

I wanted to install rEFInd on OSX Catalina because one thing I want to
install is LibreELEC https://libreelec.tv/ . Was also considering a
version of Linux which as of yet unsure which exactly but probably a debian
based distro.

How do I know which version of rEFInd to install?
