TLDR - when enabled in BIOS it seems to end in a grey white screen with no icons. I just don't know what to do next to troubleshoot it.
I installed PopOS onto a Buffalo 1TB external SSD (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B093275Z7V) . Inside PopOS I installed rEFInd and it is cool. Any machine you plug it into it automagically recognizes the other installed OSs and shows them during boot and allows you to choose. I only tested on my two dual boot laptops but it works great for me.
I liked it so much I built one for a friend and mailed it to him. He has long said he wants to break away from Windows and this sounds like such an easy way to start. We enabled USB boot before the internal SSD and boot and the screen seems to hang on a blank grey/white screen. I had him try enter, arrow left enter, arrow right 3 times and enter just to see if it was working but not displaying.
The machine is a rebuilt HP Elite 8300
Win 10 Pro
i7-4790 @ 3.6Ghz
8GB Ram
1 TB SSD
It has a video card installed and has two attached displays (I'm getting details on the video card soon)
I have proven that the drive and the install of Pop works - we booted into his wife's desktop and it worked fine.
Honestly - I can't be sure it has anything to do with rEFInd but I just don't know what to do next to troubleshoot out of this. I am 1000 miles away and trying to troubleshoot via video for added excitement.
Thanks in advance for any help!
