I have Windows, Mint and Manjaro installed. There was a time that rEFind worked fine but if I remember Mint had a Grub update. That Grub update made rEFind disappear and was replaced by the Mint Grub.
I have uninstalled and re-installed but rEFind never installs into the EFI partition.
I can load all the OS's but prefer rEFind. Well Manjaro doesn't like the Mint installed Grub because the only way Manjaro will start is in fallback mode.

After a grub update you nearly always have to (as root/sudo) do a
efibootmgr -o N,N,N to reset the order
efibootmgr just by itself will show current order of all existing entries
If the EFI partition is not mounted, that might be the install problem

Have no idea why or how but all of the sudden refund is part of the efi
option.
It started after this.....
I inserted a live manjaro stick into the computer. Options menu was
something like find efi. To my surprise there were many. Once chosing the
refind, it continued to be choice boot.
