I have Windows 8 on my Lenovo laptop installed. Today after installing Gentoo (without creating a separate boot partition for it) I decided to install rEFInd from Windows. I've proceeded all the steps in the official guide. But after reloading Windows 8 started as default without rEFInd. Then I decided to boot using rEFInd CD. And then while loading I see only black screen and in a few seconds my laptop reboots with showing me the same black screen, until I extract my CD.

What is your system's Secure Boot status? Your symptoms are consistent with Secure Boot being active, although if that were the case you might not have been able to install Gentoo (unless perhaps you used an Ubuntu, Fedora, or some other Secure Boot-enabled disk for installing it). If you haven't disabled Secure Boot, either do so or add shim or PreLoader to your boot path, as described in the rEFInd Secure Boot documentation.
