I am sorry if this is a repeat, I am new here. I use my laptop at home with a docking station and dual monitors, so the lid is usually closed. I was wondering if there was a configuration option to have the boot choice display go to one of the monitors instead of the laptop display.

You MIGHT be able to get this to happen by playing with the resolution option in refind.conf. Nominally, this sets the resolution of the display; however, what it's really doing is selecting one of the video modes that the EFI advertises as being available. If the EFI provides separate options for built-in video modes vs. those on an external video device, then selecting the video mode associated with the external display should select it, rather than the internal display. You might need to select the video mode by number (e.g., 3 or 10), not by resolution (e.g., 1024 768 or 1440 900). Setting an incorrect video mode (say, 2 2) will cause the available options to be displayed.

I tried and played around with the mode command but could never get the display to move to one of the monitors connected to the docking station. Bummer
