Probably the latest is in the unstable branch, and you have to 
configure Fink to access that (don't remember how).

So, I'd try updating that first.

I recall I had problems figuring out how to get this working with my 
non-Fink Postgre installation (and I couldn't figure out how to get my 
Fink Postgre installation working correctly!).
