Just tried compiling the latest release and ran into this:

% ./configure --with-libdbi-lib=/sw/lib/libdbi.0.0.5.dylib 
--with-expat-lib=/sw/lib/libexpat.0.4.0.dylib 
--with-docbook-xsl=/sw/share/xml/xsl/docbook-xsl 
--with-refdb-url=http://darcusb.geo.muohio.edu/refdb 
--with-db-server=sqlite CFLAGS=-L/sw/lib -I/sw/include
configure: error: unrecognized option: -I/sw/include
