Following up on earlier note, I think you ought to look to exploit attributes -- and perhaps even rename elements -- in places where they can help to make data entry more intuitive. For example, why not rename <author> to <name> and add attributes for "author" and "recipient" at the least, but potentially a longer list that includes director, translator, legislative body, etc.? Looking at the table of the Reference Manager fields ought to be helpful here. Similarly, the MODS schema started with a publisher element that they changed to <originInfo> to account for unpublished material. Might you consider this too? I could see getting rather confused (as I currently do with RIS), if I have to enter reference types such as a hearing or a bill or a movie or an unpublished archival manuscript. Shouldn't it be possible to make this easier, while at the same time maintaining compatibility with the current data model? Bruce |
