Hi Denis,

your statement is in no way ignorant! The endianness issue was indeed
what I was heading towards. Unfortunately I don't have a ppc box or
similar available, so I'll have to think. I'll try to fiddle with this
tomorrow (2am - bed is calling) and let you know when it is worth to
try a CVS version (the current version certainly has the same issue).
