Hi everybody, I'm happy to announce the release and immediate availability of refbase-0.9.6. This is our first official release in a few years. We've maintained and supported it continuously, but some of these changes have been locked away in SVN a bit too long. 'Life intrudes'. The development team has seen degrees granted, relationship status changes, children, and career moves that have distracted us from this labor of love. But we appreciate your continues interest in and use of refbase and are happy with this. The included 'update.php' script can update refbase version 0.9 and above, including SVN versions. Full release notes are below. I have many users and developers I owe thanks for getting this out of the door (the AUTHORS file has many of these enumerated, but misses some great discussions on the lists and in the forums). But, this time, I'd like to single out Matthias Steffens (refbase founder and co-lead) for praise. His passion for the nitty gritty of citation management, good development practices, and demonstrated leadership has made him land a few professional software development jobs for companies that work in a similar space as refbase. Some of his silence is most likely due to contractual commitments to these companies, and he has big shoes to feel. That we continue to receive quality code contributions from others, and that we had a surprisingly easy time packaging and testing this release is really a testament to the fantastic job he did at creating this thing! Yours, Rick (on behalf of the refbase development team) refbase 0.9.6 available ======================= refbase is a web-based bibliographic manager for scientific literature, references and citations. A new release of the refbase package is available at: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/refbase/refbase-0.9.6.tar.gz?download This release offers significant bug fixes and all users are encourage to upgrade. Most changes preserve or slightly improve the interface and are to keep refbase current with modern standards. We've replace functions that were deprecated in php 5.3, updated the RIS import and export to the current specification, improved handling of Endnote, DOI (particularly from PubMed), and CrossRef imports. We've improved localization and have added Russian and Japanese localizations. An overview of the main features of this package can be found at: http://features.refbase.net/ For more information about the refbase project and pointers to working examples of refbase (including freely accessible demo databases) please visit: http://www.refbase.net/ |

Hi everybody, I'm pleased to announce the release and immediate availability of refbase-0.9.5. As before, it took us some time to get this release out of the door, but I hope it was well worth the wait. The included 'update.php' script can update any refbase version that was installed from SVN after the release of refbase-0.9.0 but prior to this release. The official release announcement is given below. Enjoy, Matthias (on behalf of the refbase development team) refbase 0.9.5 available ======================= refbase is a web-based bibliographic manager for scientific literature, references and citations. A new release of the refbase package is available at: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/refbase/refbase-0.9.5.tar.gz?download This release offers major function enhancements and bug fixes. refbase-0.9.5 sports a refined interface, offers a query history and search suggestions, and supports more record types as well as searching for duplicates. In addition, it can now import from SciFinder and Endnote XML as well as from ArXiv ID or DOI. refbase-0.9.5 also supports additional export formats (ADS, Atom XML, ISI Web of Science, Simple Dublin Core XML, Word 2007 XML Bibliography) and citation styles (AMA, APA, Chicago, Harvard, MLA, Vancouver), and allows to dynamically include results from a refbase server into foreign web pages. This release also adds support for OpenSearch which allows users of OpenSearch enabled browsers to search refbase directly from their browser's toolbar. An overview of the main features of this package can be found at: http://features.refbase.net/ Please see the README file for an overview of refbase, what has changed in this release, and how to install or update refbase. Hi everybody, we're happy to announce the release and immediate availability of refbase-0.9.0. It took us some time to get this release out of the door, but I'm sure it was well worth the wait. The included updater will also be able to update any refbase version that was installed from CVS after the release of refbase-0.8.0 but prior to this release. The official release announcement is given below. An OpenDocument Spreadsheet for use with OpenOffice.org can be exported and formatted citation lists can be generated as HTML, RTF, PDF, or LaTeX. refbase 0.6.1b1 available ========================= refbase is a web-based solution for managing scientific literature, references and citations. A new beta release of the refbase package is available at the files section: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=64647 This beta release incorporates the following main fixes and enhancements: - circumvents a very stupid bug where it wasn't possible to setup the very first user of the database (see the readme for details!) - a user management interface is provided to admins - users can now change their password later on - variable settings from 'ini.inc.php' are now honoured correctly - provided a search form that shows up on the main page after successful login which will allow a user to easily search his *own* literature only (note that this functionality is still preliminary!) Please see the online documentation as well as the readme file (that comes with the package) for a quick overview about what's there, what's still missing and how to setup your files & database tables.
