Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. A public IP server for Redwine-developer team will be available soon and for our exclusive (good) usage. Mauro, please choose a fantastic name for our new platform !! I would like to get the latest RW version for server setup... I think it's better to use sourceforge CVS repository as soon as possible. Sara, RW website could link to sourceforge CVS files. Another suggestion could be: "Screenshots". They are often the first contact. "See" you soon. Wow! that's what I call enthusiasm! It is good to read you on this new list! First - there are new team members - Jesus: most active so far. Good general background strongly open source oriented, new to ruby. He is reading my mails and putting them together in form of document. In the beginning: examples and docs (remebers anybody? ;-) ) - Fane Probably not interested. In case I'll tell more. - Ali Expressed a lot of interest. He has 10+ years of object oriented. New to ruby. He hasn't seen the code yet, but he knows the architecture. Second - the old team members - Marianna: she says that she could come back to RW as soon as the company reduces the pressure (June) - Darren: usually works with Marianna - Jan: last time I heard from him he was trying to port RW to microsoft (TM). You know how this things are never productive ;-) - Sara: spledidly active :-) Third - answers Actually I tried to tell you the news on telephone, I failed and then I thougth that you would have been happy to know it from the developer list! I know, red-wine has almost "stolen" the name. It is no problem as far as the projects are in different area. You don't have time, this I (we) know and regret, but a big name of the italian open source like you will find the way to support ;-) The first thing we would need is a server where to run a demo. Even better: a small application to write using RedWine that you can use in one of your activities (like an Open Source info point, user registration utility, ...) Ciao!
