 Re: [Reduce-algebra-developers] Sum(1/x^2, x, 1, infinity); From: Michael Borcherds - 2012-07-30 15:05:00 ```Thanks, using specfn is an improvement as sum(1/x^2,x,1,infinity); then works! However these still don't :) sum(1/(x+1)^2,x,1,infinity); sum(1/x^2,x,2,infinity); thanks, Mike On 30 July 2012 15:40, Arthur Norman wrote: > On Mon, 30 Jul 2012, Michael Borcherds wrote: > >> Hi, >> >> Is there any way to get Reduce to calculate this? >> Sum(1/x^2, x, 1, infinity); >> >> thanks! >> >> Mike >> > > You may not like this answer, but consider > > load_package specfn; > zeta(2); > 2 > pi > ----- > 6 > > > > Arthur > ```

Re: [Reduce-algebra-developers] Seven REDUCE Interactive Lessons by David R. Stoutemyer From: Arthur Norman - 2012-07-08 15:42:31 ```And given the age of those I wonder if somebody (and it is quite possible that somebody who thinks of themselves as a bit of a beginner still) might like to look at them and discover what still works and what does not, and what might be useful to change now to bring things more up to date! And possibly then to explore some of the packages/*/*.tst test scripts and mine those to produce a second batch of "lessons" introducing some of the facilities that were not available when Stoutemyer produced his historic batch... If anybody does that they can post an archive of what they come up with here and we will consider moving it into the sourceforge tree... [Reduce-algebra-developers] Running REDUCE without the terminal window From: Grigory Sarnitskiy - 2012-07-06 05:07:42 ```Hello! I've installed REDUCE for my ubuntu 12.04 from GetDeb. It works, however I can launch it only from terminal, thus blank terminal window retains along with the GUI. Is there a way to keep only GUI window? ```
