#243 IMPORTANT: UPDATE-SITE WILL BE REMOVED ON FRIDAY

No

A ... guy has reported to SF that this project
has released binary files for download without providing the related
source code.

This is absolutely right, I don't have released the complete code.

But even if I did that, there are some required jar files.
(like org.json, org.aspectj.runtime and so on ...)

I can't upload the source code of this libraries, but without this file, the update-site would be imcomplete.

When I not solve this source code deficiency, SF will remove the complete project!

And so, I will delete ALL binary files on this friday (2011/11/25)!
Sorry for that.

You could provide a maven pom.xml which can easily descrive all dependencies needed and built the complete update site from scratch with just call "mvn" from cmd in folder where sf source code is checked out. This way everyone can easily build the update site in minutes. If you need help contact me.

Can't you move to another site that isn't Sourceforge? It's not the most friendly site to navigate.

I'll be installing the Redmine Mylyn on a new PC laptop in the next two weeks or so. But I know nothing, zero, nada about building update sites - I just enter the URL and pull it via Eclipse.

So this is the time where a volunteer should step in to provide hosting for the update site, isn't it?

May I ask why you're not able to upload the source of those missing files? Is it because of licensing issues?

Anyhow, the main goal should be to find a solution for a working update site, as you're doing a much appreciated work here which would really suffer from not being used via a simple to use update site.

Is there a new home for the binaries? Barring that, can you give us clear, succinct instructions for compiling the code, especially for those of us who aren't java programmers?

By the way, I'm sharing this information with others with hopes that someone will step in to offer hosting for the Update site.

    Right?

Why don't you ask redmine project to host your update site?
Or chiliproject and add support for chiliproject too in the meantime (would be wonderful)

    Hi together,

thank you all for your comments and ideas.

In my opinion is a new update-site the only and one user-friendly solution.
I have got some hosting offers - many thanks for them.

I will follow the proposal from Daniele and contact the Redmine team. Perhaps we can host the update-site on redmine.org.

    Regards
    Sven

Regarding the instructions to build the code, they would probably be useless.

Let me explain: the main problem as I see it is not that the sources of the external libraries bundled in the binary files are missing and I think Sven is missing the point when he uses that as an excuse. The problem is that the latest sources for the project are really missing.

I needed to install the plugin and sadly saw that it had been removed, so I checked the SF files (which are empty now) as well as the SVN et Git repositories (where the source code is). That's how I noticed the real problem regarding the sources.

The SVN repository seems to have been replaced by the Git repository as the last SVN commit is 18 months old. The problem now is that the latest Git commit is from September, but that's for the Redmine plugin. The Eclipse plugin has seen its last commit in March which is much older than the version that was available in the binaries (and from the information left in the update site, the latest were built a little more than one week ago).

And that's why building instructions would be useless as the code we can compile is too old to work on a recent version of Eclipse. If I'm wrong and the recent sources are available anywhere, please tell me. I actually need the plugin… And no, I'm not the one who reported to SF, I'm just a bit frustrated that the exact reason why the project was reported means that I cannot use the plugin right now.

The sensible thing to do would be a simple push on the Git repository. That might even solve the problem with SF.

I jut got my new PC laptop, and got ColdFusion Builder set up. I tried copying over the Redmine plugins from the old PC laptop into the new laptop, but these plugins were not recognized. So yes, more than ever, I really do need the Update site.

I'm happy to say: it's online again.

I changed some things so that we are compliant again with the conditions of SF:
    - dependencies are now resolved via associated updatesites
    - private code and non open source code is moved out of my local repository
    - sf repository is up-to-date again
