Is there a way to set reCsvEditor as the default app to open csv files in Ubuntu 18.04?

    I tried right clicking and choosing open with different application, more applications, and going into preferences. None of these show reCsvEditor as an option. reCsvEditor does show up in the applications menu, so not sure why it is not an option to open csv files.

    thanks

    Tricky - they have simplified gnome to much.

    but

    • go to <home>/.local/share/applications
    • There will be reCsv Editor ... .desktop file edit it with a text file
    • Find the line Exec=.../runCsvEditor.sh
    • Add " %f" to the end

    i.e.

     Exec=.../runCsvEditor.sh

    becomes

    Exec=.../runCsvEditor.sh %f

    reCsvEditor should appear in the application lisy

    Using script

    This is not quite what you asked for but

    • copy runCsvEdit.sh from <home>/bin directory to <home>/.local/share/nautlis/scripts directory
    • starts files and right click on a suitable file. There should be a scripts option with runCsvEdit.sh as an option

    Other options include

    • installing another File manager

    Oops. Forgot to log in. The above anonymous post is from me. Thanks for your help. 1st suggection worked like a charm. Forgot about that %f registration tag. GNOME as certainly stripped the UI of a lot of functions!
