I want to record with the same settings, all the time, with the ability to reset them to default when needed. It gets kind of tiring always having to reselect the window every time I start and stop recording.

    Thanks for the suggestions and
    your interest in recordMyDesktop.

I'll see to have the requested functionality implemented in the next
version, for which I currently have no ETA.

This feature request will be closed as soon as the changes are
    on the CVS.

    Thanks,
    John.-

The current CVS snapshots of gtk-recordMyDesktop and qt-recordMyDesktop
offer now the ability to disable the reseting of the capture area at
every recording. If reset is disabled, the area is also stored in the
options file, to be reused in the next program run.

The new option can be found in the misc tab of the advanced window.
By default reset is enabled (if upgrading from a previous version
it might be disabled at first run).

When auto-reset is disabled, it can still be performed manually,
as usual, by right-clicking on the preview window.

At the time of writting, the current cvs versions of
gtk/qt-recordMyDesktop require also a cvs snapshot of
    recordMyDesktop to operate correctly.

    Thanks,
    John.-
