XDamage extension not found!

  • Jostein Berntsen

When I try to run recordmydesktop at OpenSuse 10.2, I get this error message and the program exits:

"Initial recording window is set to:
    X:0   Y:0    Width:1440    Height:900
Adjusted recording window is set to:
    X:0   Y:2    Width:1440    Height:896
Your window manager appears to be KWin

    XDamage extension not found!!!"

    What happens here?

The XDamage extension must be present for
      recordMyDesktop to operate properly.

You can check for it's presence by running
      ~$  xdpyinfo |grep DAMAGE
and the output must be the word DAMAGE.

Normally  it should be present. If it isn't then
the problem is in your configuration, with which I'm afraid
      I can't help.
Make sure that you have the correct drivers for your video
card and libxdamage installed. Also you might find better answers
if you ask this question on a openSUSE specific forum.
