no soundonplay back VDecoder error

    i cant get the sound to work at all during playback on mplayer or anything i keep getting this error.

      What you are seeing is mplayer trying to open the video
      with ffmpeg, failing and then going with the theora decoder.
      It's not an error, but the regular process of choosing a decoding backend.

      But this output is unrelated to sound. There should be more text,
      related to opening the audio stream. Can you post the whole output of
      mplayer please?

      Also are you sure that your mixer settings are correct?
      You might be simply recording sound from a silent source
      (e.g. line-in), or the input volumes(mic, wave or mix)
      might be set to zero.
