I am looking for an editor capable of handling 4060-byte fixed-width field
records. As a general rule, the files don't need to be edited, but every so
often, we receive data that needs some hand-tweaking. I just installed
RecordEditor (HSQLDB) yesterday on a Linux box (Ubuntu Lucid). The
database server and full editor start okay. I feed it one of my files (DOS
line-endings, text only), and tell it to go to the Layout wizard. The first
30 lines appear, all in grey, with column breaks after every character.
Clicking on any column appears to do nothing. Clicking multiple times on a
column doesn't do anything either.
Am I maxing out the beastie? Or is something else going wrong?
Silly me. The documentation said click on the starting COLUMN. So, I clicked
at the top of the column… where it displays "…+…1…+…2…" Instead, clicking on
the column of the first actual data record, rather than the column header,
makes a whole lot of difference…
So, in the immortal words of Emily Litella, "Oh… Never mind."
I guess I need to look at the documentation,
Also it is probably to late but the latest Test Version (0.69e) has some
built in field search
