Translate the strings until all strings that you deem worthy for translation are translated (there are a lot of strings like "vuTimeAdjustmentRecords" that you may want to leave as-is). If you are confident that a translation string is good, assign it the green checkmark, which means that the translation of that particular string is considered finished.
When you are done, save the translation file and re-upload it here, so I can commit it to the repository. Of course, this requires that you agree to publish your translation as part of readesm under the terms of the GNU GPL (I take this for granted if you hand in the translation).
Unless you explicitely decline to be mentioned in the acknowledgments section, please tell me which name I shall put there.
Regarding any bugs that have not been fixed so far, feel free to paste a code snippet or attach a patch in this thread. Alternatively you can write a new bug report and put it there.

For a comprehensive translation, the greeter should also be translated, i.e. the file readesm/greeting.xhtml should be copied to readesm/greeting_fr.xhtml, and the content translated (a title and three sentences).

Creating a translation is not really hard. First check out the subversion repository:
Of course you can also use any other Subversion client you might prefer, like e. g. TortoiseSVN on Windows.
Then start Qt Linguist and open the new translation source file (readesm/resources/translations/readesm_fr.ts) that I just checked into the repository
