Hi, sorry, I can not tell you how to use those scripts as I have never used them myself and I do not have the necessary equipment. The needed Python version was 2.7. With revision 536 from today, this is no longer true. I just migrated them to Python 3. Python 3.10 should be fine. However, the GUI (loadvugui) is still seriously outdated and refers to PyQt4.

Hi Robert, we don't have a demo application. However we may convert your files and send back a result. The application basically converts ddd structure to xml/json for all known blocks. Update: Latest version supports reading Driver, Company, Workshop Card and VU files. Currently we support signature verification for both generations.

You will have trouble finding ddd files from workshop, control and company cards. I only know one reader that reads these cards because there is no need to analyze the data on these cards. It will be easier for you to create your program to read these cards using a smart card reader (it is easy using the windows winscard library).

Hello. Im not sure this is the right place but im working on an DddReader program. This program can read G1/G2 VehicleUnit and DriverCard .ddd files without problem but i dont have any Workshop, Company and Control card .ddd files, works in theory but i can't test if it works in practice. I know it's hard to get these files but i'll try my chance. Can someone provide sample .ddd files for Workshop, Company and Control cards please?

Hi I could ask to send a file with VDO 4.0 format. I'd like to try to edit ReadESM to open these files. But I don't have test files.

Hi, I know that there are already some VDO 4.0 installed in Spain and the Readesm can't open the new files. I have one donwloaded file and the readesm can't recognize the new treps (See attached file). Anyone knows if there is any plan for the readesm to support this new files?

Hi Everyone, There was just a release of a new version of the tacho download standard which added support for a second generation "generation 2 VU data format". I believe this will have an impact on all file readers, although I haven't read through the new real file format document Annex1C of Regulation (EU) n°2016/799. Hello Marcel, text output was implemented in initial releases of ReadESM, but vanished with the transition to the Qt framework. Text output is still mentioned on various places and may return in the future, but it is currently unsupported. In fact, the only output format that is currently available is XHTML. However, there is already a ticket about adding at least one more output format: ReadESM ticket #12

Hello nejck, as far as I understand you, you want to use ReadESM as a pure command line utility, i.e. without any GUI at all (the ReadESM GUI does not use GTK, but Qt). Sadly, this is currently not supported. However, adding rudimentary support for using ReadESM as a pure command line utility should not be too hard. In fact, many of the needed prerequisites are already there. I have opened a ticket for this: ReadESM bug #13
