But I have the same prob under w2k, too. It is awful, if you have to 
wait while explorer starts the preparing to kill a simple file. And it 
takes from time to time up to 7 sec.
I think it is an (IE-Integrated) problem that didn't exist when IE 
wasn't integrated in the shell.
