rdqs 0.4.0a

This is an interin release.

After I didn't do much regarding RDQS, I decided to release the current CVS state as "0.4.0a". The name indicates that it is -not- the 0.4.1 release from the Roadmap.

I'm currently busy with other projects, so RDQS development is almost "paused". I don't want you to run over bugs which already have been squished, so try this version instead.

Sincerly,
cochi

Small updates in CVS

Hi out there, I'm still living ;)

Because of coming across some... oddities in SQL*Plus at my 6 week vacation-work, I found a strange shell named "rdqs" or something like that on my hard disk ;)

I did some little adaptions and corrections to get it started without errors on my windows me box down in my room. I also added a new directory in the CVS tree named Win32/ holding a brief Howto for Windows and a file named Ansi.Com, as Millennium doesn't allow ansi sequences.... read more

rdqs development paused

Hi out there...

Development of RDQS has now been paused since about one month ago. I'm currently neither involved in database things (maybe this changes with the now beginning lecture about databases and information systems at university) nor in the mood of programming in Ruby. This is mainly because I'm not happy with my university studies and because Dark Age of Camelot (www.daoc.com) is quite mesmerizing.
So I mutated from a non-windows/non-umlauts/non-gamer to the totally opposite.. what a shame ;))... read more

rdqs 0.4.0rc1 released

Today, I announce the first release candidate of RDQS 0.4.0.

The program has undergone significant changes, the linecount has almost doubled in the last (silent) 1.5 months since version 0.3.3.

RDQS now comes with a complete plugin structure, you can use frontends, output modules, datasources and generic plugins at-will. The newly introduced plugins can register arbitary parsers, load/save procedures, settings and commands. As proof-of-concept I realized a basic SQLhelp and multiline support (!) as plugins.... read more

rdqs 0.4pre in CVS

Hi out there. It's been quiet the last time (okok... I've got a two week release cycle), but RDQS still exists ;)

I've been busy making a "hot rewrite"... migrating to version 0.4.0 which existed some weeks as nonfunctional prototype on my harddisks. During the last.. hm.. 4 days I rewrote major parts of the project while trying to break nothing (ok.. almost succeeded ;)

The result is in CVS, now labeled 0.4pre. It has support for plugins, almost without limitations. I've also pulled out several functional units (disk history, data-sources.xml, variables) as plugins.. And it works.
So the CVS may crash unexpectedly due to these massive changes. But after I have checked and tested all and I made the remaining steps (utility factories, separation core-frontend, dynamic loading) that will be the 0.4.0. And I find it overwhelming ;)... read more

rdqs 0.3.3

I today release version 0.3.3 of RDQS. After the recent events, where both 0.3.1 and 0.3.2 had serious bugs, I'll announce it later as I first want feedback about errors :)

Biggest changes since 0.3.2pl1:
Dozends of bugfixes (serious ones.. so please upgrade ASAP),
Tuned parsers (for more WYSIWYG),
Coloring issues,
Support for source-related commands (e.g. commit/rollback),
Updated documentation,
History editing in external editor,
Shortcuts + Inputbatches with parameters: "mini-programs",
Comments in inputbatches.... read more

rdqs 0.3.2pl1

Whooooops. How embarrassing. I've released and announces a version which doesn't even start up. Apparently I didn't try it out first *argh*
Please forgive me. You can now download a patch or a new archive which will -definitely- start.

rdqs 0.3.2 is out

Since last release many serious bugfixes, many coloring issues and some new useful commands.
Please check out Changelog

rdqs 0.3.1 pl1

Fixed some serious bugs. After adjusting the source to ruby coding standards, I forgot renaming some function calls, which almost broke -everything-. Additionally some ruby 1.6.x related changes (I use 1.7.2 currently) and now shortcuts are expanded everywhere on the input line (e.g. '@tocall = "SELECT phone FROM employees WHERE name = `cat fired.txt`' and then you can use '\watch @tocall 5' :)

rdqs 0.3.1 is out

Another round of rdqs with new features en masse

Config files, completion for commands/variables/settings/shortcuts, shortcuts for queries, \watch command, complete(!) documentation and several douzend of bugfixes.

Additionally, if you don't own NQXML but it's opponent REXML, this will be used for data-sources.xml connection bookmarking

First files released

I have uploaded two.. hm.. let's say ancient versions. As they are some days old and I'm very busy rewriting I cannot enumerate all bugs, bugfixes and extensions. For basic tasks the 0.2.3a version should suffice with SQL(DBI) support, CSV/XML/INI/Table-like output, Backtick support (hey... SELECT * FROM files WHERE id = `cat ids.txt` kinda rules :), output redirection (type "$> = file.ext"), a dumb keyword/table/column completer and pager support.
The next rewrite I'm currently busy with has a more modular architecture and I will finally make documentation. Please apologize that I am not willing to document 0.2.x files when supadupa 0.3.x is approaching :)
Please report any bugs and ideas.. There are currently two users known to me and that's not enough critical mass for a good development ;))
