No, there is no additional hurdles for that (except that you can't use
the version provided with the base distro). Unless a 9.X package
appear in the EPEL repo I'll stop building the subpackage when this
happens.

yes, the get_data method is actually not present in the pycairo
package provided by the distro. The patch "works", so now it falls
back to the other methods. I still need to fix it somehow, given I've
got no aggdraw  and sping is removed during build (I wanted to
simplify licensing on the package review)

So I have now three ways to produce a working rpm:
1. fix code to work with older pycairo
2. try to package aggdraw for EPEL
3. move to python 2.6

I'll see what's easier, I'd like to do this and move along
