Hello, I'm new with the RAP API and I need to instantiate an OWL ontology using an application developed in PHP 4.4.0 and MySQL (I know that is obsolete... we will migrate but not at this moment). Thus, I'd like to know which version of RDF API I have to download. I've tried the last version, but it's already for PHP 5. Thanks, Ana. |

Nevertheless, we are open and happy about any external contributions. Thus, if you use it in your project and if you extend the code base, please send us your extensions and corrections and we will add them to the SVN. Also I found a couple of problems: - I use the following to include RAP in my script: define('RDFAPI_INCLUDE_DIR', realpath('lib/rdfapi-php/api').'/'); include(RDFAPI_INCLUDE_DIR.'RDFAPI.php'); But I came across several "class not found" and "php script not found", so I had to add by hand a require_once when I got an error like this. Am I doing something wrong? - This one is more serious: I am using PHP version 5.3.2, I think this problem will affect all PHP versions starting from 5.3, maybe I can't remember when namespaces where introduced in php, anyway, in the RdfsVocabulary() and OWLVocabulary() classes the method NAMESPACE() can't be used, I had to comment it (actually renamed to NS() for the moment): Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_NAMESPACE, expecting T_STRING in rdfapi-php/api/ontModel/OWLVocabulary.php on line 357 I am interested in aiding the development of RAP, my own personal project will slowly start and I could give some contribution to the code where needed, especially on the OWL support side. Hey all: I have a question here. I'm using RAP API to develop a semantic wiki. I have a database storing all RDF statements obtained from the semantic wiki, and this database is different from the one for wiki data itself. Then I use RAP API to get a dbmodel with the modelURI of "http://localhost/model". I run some inference on this model. there are some new statements produced and of course these new statements are store within this dbmodel. Then I go to the wiki page, I expect to see these new facts shown in the 'Static Fact' bar in the wiki page, however, only existing facts are shown without the new facets. I'm wondering how new statements can reflected to wiki pages? I appreciate any suggestion and solution. Thank you very much all in advance. bests Lian |

Hi all: I'm a started with RAP. The first question I meet is how to create a model from a owl file located in my local directory. I've checked the functions provided by ModelFactory, but I didn't find any function similar in Jena. Could someone tell me how to deal with this. Thanks very much. I'm looking forward to your solutions and suggestion. bests Lian |

Hi Yves, thanks a lot for the patch. We are currently not actively maintain RAP. Therefore, I cc the RAP mailing list so that the patch gets archived and can be picked up later. Yves: If you are actively using RAP in your projects and it is likely that you have more patches, I could also give you write access to the SVN so that you could directly submit them. Interested? Hi Alison, thank you very much for your bug fix. Me and my group currently don't actively maintain RAP, which is sad, but due to all the other projects like DBpedia, D2R Server, Silk, NG4J we are currently involved in. Therefore, I forward your bug fix to the RAP mailing list for archiving and hope that it is going to be picked up once we or somebody else actively works on another RAP release again. Thanks again and best regards, Chris -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- Von: Alison Callahan [mailto:ali...@gm...] Gesendet: Donnerstag, 11. März 2010 18:31 An: ch...@bi... Betreff: potential fatal error fix for PHP RAP Hello Chris, I was working with the N3Parser for RAP, and I encountered the following set of warnings and a fatal error when I tried to call the $parser->parse function on a string of valid N3: *************** Warning: array_slice() expects parameter 2 to be long, string given in /home/alison/Programs/rdfapi-php/api/syntax/N3Parser.php on line 395 Warning: array_slice() expects parameter 2 to be long, string given in /home/alison/Programs/rdfapi-php/api/syntax/N3Parser.php on line 395 Fatal error: Prefix not declared: : in /home/alison/Programs/rdfapi-php/api/syntax/N3Parser.php on line 603 ***************** After looking through the code I noticed a potential error, which, when changed, allowed the code to work. The change I made is the following: In N3Parser.php, the getPrefixes function calls the getSpan function but seems to provide it with a variable of the wrong type (string instead of long, hence the error). Namely, on line 508 of the ParseN3.php code, the variable $pos is defined as: $pos = current($list) The 'current' function returns the value of an array at the internal pointer position, but from my understanding, getSpan requires the index of the current array element. Thus I changed the line $pos = current($list) to $pos = key($list) and the code seems to work perfectly. I thought I should point this out because I don't know if this change will have unexpected effects later on, or if this is a legitimate bug fix. Please find attached the n3 file that I used, my simple code, and the version of N3Parser.php with the above change at line 508. I would appreciate knowing what you think. Hi Pascale, disclaimer: I'm really a newbie with RAP. However, it seems that I got past the stage you're in with configuring a SPARQL endpoint for the Semantic MediaWiki so here are my two cents... > I red explanations but I dont understand which file to modify in part > 3. As far as I understand, this step is related to using the API in your own PHP files. I didn't need to do this. I've been following the howto at this address: http://semantic-mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:SPARQL_endpoint Then the howto they point out, here: http://www4.wiwiss.fu-berlin.de/bizer/rdfapi/tutorial/netapi.html Two notes on steps I found tricky in the latter: - step 2: the /path/to/rdfapi-php/netapi/ the page is mentioning is the virtual path of Apache, not the physical one - step 3: I also needed to modify the netapi/config.inc.php for the API to point to the right database. After doing this, I have the triples corresponding to new pages created in the wiki stored in a RAP model and can download them in RDF format through the rdfdb-utils page by using the RDF/XML export button. Unfortunately, the SPARQL endpoint itself is not working yet (that's why I started browsing the mailing list). I'll post a message on the issue I got very soon. Cheers, Cristiano |

Hello, Im new with using RAP, so I have some really basic-questions. My first question: Is there a check when adding a property to an instance, whether the domain and the range is "right" for the property? A little example: // Creating the instances $blade_runner = $movie->createInstance("blade_runner"); $harrison_ford = $actor->createInstance("harrison_ford"); // Creating a property $directedBy = $ontModel->createOntProperty("directedBy"); $directedBy->addDomain($movie); $directedBy->addRange($director); // add the property $blade_runner->addProperty($directedBy, $harrison_ford); Does the RAP check that the given instance $harrison_ford is no director and therefore may not be "connected" over $directedBy with the movie? If no "consistency-check" exists: Why not? Would it make sense to keep the consistency of the ontology? Another question: How can I define the range of a property as a string, for example to keep the name of an instance? And my last question (for today ;-)): Is there a possibility to receive the hierarchical structure of the classes of the ontology? Best regards, Timo |
