Another faceted browsing/search solution you might want to take a look at is the SWED portal [1], it's a web portal that's content is stored as RDF and the code is available, so it's fairly easy to bring in new data sets as the basis of the portal. SIMILE project's longwell is also easily adapted into new datasets. Folks at the W3C semantic-web mailing list[3] would probably be able to give out more pointers.
