wts 2008 redirect pdu handling reworked
Please find attached two patches which make rdesktop 1.7.1 work with Windows Terminal Server 2008 Session Broker with Load Balance enabled.
the rdesktop-1.7.1-wts2008-loadbalance.patch reworks the redirect pdu handling accordign to Microsoft docs at:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee443575%28prot.20%29.aspx [ 220.127.116.11 Server Redirection Packet (RDP_SERVER_REDIRECTION_PACKET) ]
the rdesktop-1.7.1-wts2008-reinitsec.patch adds reinitialization of a g_licence_issued global variable - wihout it wts 2008 server presents a black or 'welcome' screen after redirect - but refuses to talk to the client ...
As far as I can tell (and after testing) rdesktop 1.7.1 with above patches processes correctly session redirection with both Windows 2003 Server and Windows 2008 Server terminal servers.
Any chance to get these patches included in rdesktop ?
Hi, I also would vote to integrate these patches in the official rdesktop sources. In fact, I tested them with rdesktop 1.7.1 and they are working fine.
The only thing missing so far is that if you have a load balancing farm that you have to enter your password twice when you first try to login to the farm. Does anybody know what is required to get that implemented in rdesktop as well? Furthermore even when using the "-p" option to supply the password on the command-line the password is not passed on to the second connection (after session broker redirected) and that users have to enter the password again. Any suggestions?
Yes, I'm having the double password problem as well. Love to see a fix included in the next release.
The server redirection has been rewritten and this is a not an issue anymore.
Server redirection is verified using 2003 and 2008r2 terminal servers.
Ok, than you for the info: that is for next release of rdesktop (newer than 1.8.1), right ?
Yes, these changes will be included into next release of rdesktop.
FYI I just installed the latest subversion release and I am still getting the double login from session broker. using Windows 2008 R2 with 2 RDS servers. Am I missing something
Matt, There has been a few more fixes on the matter, could you please verify if you still have problems with latest trunk version.
